For Brendan Greene, the times of Battle Royale and the struggle to be the last man standing have already come to an end. In an interview, the creator of one of the biggest hits in recent years has said he rules out his own involvement in a possible PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds 2, if a sequel to the action game will actually be released one day.

According to him, the idea now is to follow other paths. Speaking to GamesIndustry, he says he loves the genre and the idea behind the Battle Royale titles, but at the same time he's done it, so it's time to explore other things. In the interview, he still joked, claiming to have given players good manners to kill each other, but that is the time to move on.

Greene is also literally changing airs. He remains a consultant on Battlegrounds, the game that is the flagship of producer PUBG Corp. at the moment, but continues to lead what the company called a division for development of special projects. With that, he leaves the Seoul offices in South Korea and moves to Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
He says, however, that he does not have many details about what he's going to do next because his new projects do not exist yet. According to Greene, the jobs at the moment are purely experimental, with the exploration of new ideas in the field of online games and the search for new ways to connect people. The producer said he got carte blanche from the president of PUBG Corp., Chang Han KIm, to turn the ideas in his head into something playable.

On the other hand, this takes time and Greene believes that the first project of the new division should take a few years to come to fruition. According to him, there is no corporate pressure involved and not even a deadline to launch a title. Even less, there is no need to create a new hit, as he has done twice, with H1Z1 and then PUBG. The producer said he considered himself lucky to be at that kind of threshold in such a competitive industry.

PUBG Corp. itself has never talked about launching a sequel to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, a game that, despite falling a bit ahead of competitors, still remains a hit on both PCs and consoles as well as on phones and tablets. The title continues to be updated and receiving content across all platforms.
