6 Curiosities about PUBG Mobile

Nowadays, the success of battle royales among people of all ages is immeasurable. Some time ago the genre also began to invade the smartphones, bringing to "this world" anyone who had a cell phone, that is, EVERYONE. One of the most important games of this medium is undoubtedly the PUBG MOBILE.

The game, however, hides curiosities that may have beaten even the most fierce hunter of chicken dinners.

See below 5 of them:
1 - It started as a mod of a mod - It is almost unbelievable to think that one of the most popular games in the world began as a simple mod (modification of a game created by a player). And on top of that a mod from another mod! In the past the creator of PUBG, Irish Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene, also made the mod DayZ: Battle Royale, based on the popular mod DayZ, in turn based on the military simulation game ARMA 2. DayZ: Battle Royale would go through several modifications until it becomes a complete game, get to PUBG and on several other platforms besides the PC, such as mobile devices.

2 - The creator had never made a game - Another almost unbelievable fact is that the title today played by millions of gamers around the world was created by someone with no previous experience with game development. Yes, Brendan Greene learned how to program while creating PUBG! He even admits he was not very good at the start and faced a lot of frustration, but gradually he was able to make the game take shape.
3 - PUBG MOBILE was inspired by a Japanese book - The battle royale format came from a Japanese book adapted for theaters in the year 2000. See if it looks familiar: Battle Royale takes place on an abandoned island in which high school students are forced to fight until the death with diverse armaments spread by the place and with the safe areas gradually diminishing.

4 - Is (a little?) Of Brazil! - Brendan Greene began the development of the mod DayZ: Battle Royale when he lived in Brazil, more precisely in Varginha (MG). He said he came from Ireland to Brazil because of a relationship that ended up not working, and worked in the country as a photographer and designer. At the end of his stay here, he began the development of what would become PUBG.

5 - Chicken Dinner is a reference to the time of the Depression - Everyone knows that the grand prize of a game of PUBG MOBILE is, in addition to surviving, the much dreamed "chicken dinner" with the phrase "Winner Winner Chicken Dinner". What few know is that the curious expression was born in the hard times of the American Depression of the 1930s. In this period of famine, the expression was told by dice players on the streets, a reference that the winner could buy a chicken for the dinner.

6 - Record Record - One year after the release, PUBG MOBILE broke several records, such as passing the milestone of more than 30 million active users daily and accumulating more than 200 million downloads. The game also became a success in eSports, mainly thanks to the PUBG MOBILE Club Open 2019, championship with total award of $ 2 million.

PUBG Mobile is available for free for Android and iOS and is based on the same-name game currently available for PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, Xbox One.
